'New Concepts of Relationship' is a programme of enquiry and research funded for 5 years commencing in January 2012. It consists of several separate research/enquiry streams the first 'Building Relationships in a Cynical Age' explores consumer expectations of the changing nature of relationships with private and public sector organisations.
Overall the programme explores the impacts of increasing mobility combined with new forms of communication to the way in which relationships are established and maintained between individuals and organisations. Amongst topics the programme will explore will be impacts of distance and proximity, bonds and ties within fluid/mobile relationships, virtuality and virtual representation, new notions of presence and co-presence, availability and privacy, the nature of trust between organisations/brands and individuals and issues of personalisation, data use, marketing and customer service.
During the course of the programme we will be initiating a range of research streams, workshops and events designed to engage with a wide range of organisations (profit and non-profit), policy makers, academics and individuals.
